About Us

The design industry in Singapore is sometimes depressing. Ten years ago, as young designers, Kenny Lim and Andrew Loh often felt stifled and discouraged. As a result, they were convinced that the only way to be happy was to start their own design agency, and DEPRESSION was born. The name serves as a constant reminder that the power to change one’s life lies entirely within oneself. Inspired by Singapore’s sub-cultures, the duo creates with a streak of rebellion and a taste for the macabre.



Today, DEPRESSION is known as the street goth label inspired by genderless punk styles and dark elements.

DEPRESSION has participated in runways such as Singapore Audi Fashion Festival, Seoul Fashion Week and Malaysia Mercedes Benz Fashion Week.

Celebrities like Adam Lambert, Kat Von D, Taboo from Black Eyed Peas and Zhang Ziyi have been spotted in the label’s creations.

Collaborators over the years include Casio, Durex, Swarovski and Pioneer. Most recently, the label worked with French Digital Artist Miguel Chevalier to create Pixels Wave at the Singapore Night Festival.

International concept stores that have worked with DEPRESSION include Wut Tokyo, Wall Tokyo, Merci Taipei, H. Lorenzo Los Angeles, Solestruck USA, Off The Wall Hong Kong, Sects Shop Singapore, Studio Collection London, Nekromancie Italy and RA Antwerp among others.

In Singapore, the label is featured in the country’s official SG50 book ‘Living The Singapore Story’, was recently inaugurated in the prestigious local museum titled ‘50 years Of Singapore Design’ and is also one of five handpicked labels to feature in the sgNext50 exhibition and Fashion Steps Out runway at Orchard Road. 

On top of running their online store www.ShopDepression.Com, the designers also manage the multi-label store in Singapore, called the SECTS SHOP aka 武林大会 as well as a travelling pop up concept titled #counterculturalism.



The self-taught fashion designers Kenny Lim and Andrew Loh met while working in the advertising industry circa 2002. Kenny is an English Literature graduate and worked as a Copywriter, while Andrew’s background is in Graphic Design and he enjoyed a career as an Art Director. Since starting the DEPRESSION label in 2006, the design duo has kept busy collaborating with other noted names, judging competitions like the Audi Star Creation and even starred in advertising campaigns for Starhub and the Red Cross.
